Barcelona Could Have A Female Coach shortly

Ernesto Valverde has recently stated that Barcelona could see a female coach take charge of the team soon as the women’s division continues to expand across the globe. Barcelona has invested a great deal into its women’s soccer division in recent years. Lieke Martens, the former World Player of the Year, and Toni Duggan, the England International, are among several huge signings that were made since the team went professional during 2015.

Female Involvement in Football

Barcelona launched a campaign last week which coincided with International Women’s Day, requesting for greater gender equality in the world of football. Valverde stated that he is entirely behind the drive for more female involvement in the world of football and expects huge advances to continue being created in the next few years. Barcelona’s coach, in a news conference last week ahead of the match against Rayo Vallecano, stated, “The world of football is taking significant steps forward. There’s no doubt that women will have more presence in the world of football.”

“It’s inevitable. The progression of women’s football will be seen, with the matches at Sam Mames, Wanda Metropolitano, and even in the Champions League. There are also steps to begin when it comes to the men’s game, thanks to the presence of referees. There will always be changes that will keep advancing. Who knows, perhaps there will be a female head coach for Barcelona’s men’s team. Not entirely sure, but it’s possible.”

Lionel Messi

Valverde was discussing the future of female football players after Lionel Messi made his return to the Argentina national team for international friendlies match against Morocco and Venezuela later this month. Lionel Messi hasn’t played for Argentina since the round of 16 last summer during the FIFA World Cup. However, Valverde stated that he has no issues with the additional demands that have been placed on his world-class player.

“We are all well aware that Lionel Messi would return to the Argentina national team at some point,” Valverde stated. “It doesn’t bother me at all.
“The current season hasn’t been as demanding on Messi. Comparing this season to other seasons in the past, due to his injury and not being able to play for his national team since the FIFA World Cup. Therefore, it’s completely normal to see him back in the national team squad.”

Lionel Messi has assisted Barcelona to establish a 7 point lead against Atletico Madrid at the top of the La Liga table with a total of 25 goals. The 1-0 victory against Real Madrid last weekend. Allowing them to move 12 points ahead of Real Madrid on the La Liga table. Which they also managed to knock out of the Copa del Rey tournament just three days later.
Valverde stated that Barcelona has been keeping a close eye on Real Madrid and their troubles. They are refusing to take any glee from this as it could easily happen to any elite club in Europe.
