Early Predictions for the 2019/20 Premier League Season

Manchester City has only crowned the 2018/19 champions of the Premier League last week. However, it’s never too early to start predicting what might happen next season. Who is in trouble? Which club will surprise us? Which squad in the top six will be heading towards a transition season? We decided to make a few early predictions of what might happen during the 2019/20 season of the Premier League.

Manchester City Could Claim a Hat-Trick

Pep Guardiola and Manchester City managed to claim another title in the Premier League. However, it’s a far cry from when the team won the title last year by a 19-point margin. However, it is too much to hope for another tight battle next time around?

The celebrations that took place at Brighton after they claimed the trophy suggests that the recent victory has only strengthened the club. It’s necessarily a kind of addiction that will see the club win the title again and again if no one is there to stop them.

Liverpool is currently the only contender to upset Manchester City. However, with a fruitless chase in the Premier League along with a season that doesn’t end until the final of the Champions League, it will take a toll on the Reds. Both Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane will endure heavy burdens during the Africa Cup of Nations when they play in the sapping heat that comes with Egypt.

Teams Closing the Gap on the Top Six

Liverpool and Manchester City left everyone for dead this season, and if we had to repeat the season starting today, there wouldn’t be much of a difference. However, what about the teams that fall under the Big Six? While discussions have always been around the top six teams, most forget about the teams underneath them starting to show loads of improvements.

For instance, when Wolves managed to defeat Arsenal 3-1 in April, it was impossible to determine which side was stronger. The same can be said when you look at Leicester City that has managed to improve immensely since the start of the season. This will become even clearer when the 2019/20 season starts as the Wolves are receiving loads of financial backing along with a brilliant manager to lead them to glory. This might be the team that will cause huge upsets when it comes to the Big Six next season.

Manchester United’s Transition Season

Should Solskjaer’s job title change back to temporary or should we give him a chance to prove himself after the 2019/20 season? The reality is, Solskjaer needs loads of time to rectify the damage that has been done to the club since Sir Alex Ferguson made his departure. Ander Herrera, who is going to depart during the summer, was spot on when he stated that Manchester United need time to get back onto its feet. Things might also look up when Paul Pogba makes a clean break from the club.
