After years of formal requests from fans for the Zack Snyder Cut of “The Justice League” to be released, it’s been announced that HBO Max will release the highly desired film in 2021. It’ll have taken four years for this film to finally reach DC fanatics, with Snyder first filming his version in 2017. Nobody was expecting this announcement to be made with Zack Snyder and Henry Cavil held a live commentary via Vero. The confirmed 2021 release date immediately went viral and has been seen by millions since May 21st.
Zack Snyder provided his formal thanks towards Warner Brothers & HBO max for allowing this film to be released. He remarked that their gesture is brave, as it supports artists and allows their visions to become a reality. Snyder then thanked all who were & will be involved in bringing this version of the Justice League. It should be mentioned that Zack Snyder was forced to leave this production after a personal tragedy struck the director. His daughter committed suicide at the age of twenty, creating an imbalance in this director that would’ve prompted rifts amongst the production cast.
After leaving the picture, Warner Brothers & DC Comics elected Joss Whedon to finish this film. It prompted multiple changes in the Justice League, changes that weren’t loved by fans or critics. Considering that Whedon started Marvel’s The Avengers, it was shocking to see he couldn’t recreate this formula with the Justice League.
The History of Snyder’s Justice League
Batman, Aquaman, Wonder Woman, Cyborg, and The Flash comprise of the Justice League. They’re continuously facing against substantial enemies that are trying to destroy the universe. Joss Whedon’s version of the film poorly misrepresented the core element of the Justice League, focusing more on Superman and Batman than the entire collective. Zack Snyder’s version was significantly different, playing out over three hours and allowing each character to receive their highlights. Since the COVID-19 Pandemic broke out worldwide, both Ben Affleck and Gal Gadot had actively supported the concept of Snyder’s Cut being released. Both those A-List Stars weren’t present during the Vero Videoconference.
Fans speculated that the Snyder Cut would be released in 2020 or 2021, with Zack posting images from his version of the Justice League to Instagram in January. Fans will have to wait an additional twelve months until the Justice League is released to HBO Max. It’ll either be formatted as a four-hour film or six-part miniseries. It’ll cost $30 million to produce and will more than likely be one of the most notable films during the 2021 Summer Blockbuster Season.
